Olga Cornejo Office Manager
Artemisa Cortez Principal

Ms. Artemisa P. Cortez

Hello!  My name is Artemisa Perez Cortez, and I am the Principal here at New School Community Day School.

I was born in Mexico, Santa Maria Aguanuato, Michoacan.  My parents were born in California, raised in Mexico. I am the first member of my family to graduate from high school (a pansasos, but I did it!) I have been in the field of education for over 30 years.  My Principal experience covers five years at Edward A. Hall Middle School and the last four years at Renaissance High School.

It is a pleasure to work with students, parents, and staff at New School.  I share what I know and learn from all of you.

Never take anything for granted, always do your best, focus on the positive things in life, and never, ever give up. I have a picture in my office with a message I like to share because it’s simple, yet powerful:

Winners Never Quit,

Quitters Never Win.

Hi my name is Olga Cornejo and I am the Administrative Assistant at New School.   I graduated from Richmond High in 1996 and later went to Western Career College in San Leandro, CA.  I moved to Watsonville in 1998. I started working at New School in January 2003. Slowly I have continued taking some college classes at Cabrillo.

I have 2 beautiful daughters, one in college and the other still in elementary school. They are my pride and joy. I married my high school sweetheart in 1996 (yes, straight out of high school)

Mr. Don Eggleston founder and former principal of New School taught me everything about how to work with troubled youth.   The population we work with are good students who just need a little push. Coming to New School with smaller class sizes is very helpful. We become a small community and we care a lot about our students. We become a family.

Sylvia Rocha, Campus Security Supervisor

Hi, my name is Silvia Rocha and I am the Campus Security at New School.

I was born in Michoacan, Mexico. I came to California when I was thirteen years old. I graduated from Aptos High School in 1998. I went to Cabrillo College and graduated with a Criminal Justice degree.

I have been working for the Pajaro Valley Unified School District for ten years. I was at Renaissance High School for nine years before I started working at New School in November of 2015. I am very happy working at New School because we work as a team. All the staff here has the same goal for the students, which is for them to succeed.

Rene Bermudez, PVPSA Case Manager

What's up!  My name is Rene Bermudez, I am a Case Manager/Counselor with Pajaro Valley Prevention, and the onsite Case Manager here at New School Community Day School.

I was born and raised in Watsonville, California which I am extremely proud of!  My parents were born in Guanajuato, Mexico. I am part of the one family on my block in which all family members attended & graduated college.  I attended Cabrillo College and graduated with an A.A. in Liberal Arts, thereafter, I transferred to UC San Diego where I earned my B.A. in Communications.  I have been working within the school system on and off for over 10 years.  I aspire to serve my community the rest of my life in whatever way that may be.  For now that is serving our students at New School.  I am absolutely proud and committed to serving them to the best of my ability!
